Former Guitar Builder, Exhibit Designer, and Art Handler, Sy Arden is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston Salem. She has exhibited in small town galleries, competitions, large group shows, and most prevalently in events she books and promotes on her own.
Arden uses techniques informed by her work building guitars for Taylor, designing exhibits for museums and galleries and discoveries made at a certificate program at Harvard University.
Her primary focus revolves around nature, intimacy, psychological evolution, and more recently, socioeconomic affairs. Her upcoming art project with working title, "Monuments and Things That Should Be" is in the planning stage. The materials and conceptual components have been largely decided upon; now the work revolves around securing an artist residency to complete the large-scale pieces.
Sy aspires toward a dual-residency between Charlotte, NC and Nashville, TN and Cambridge, MA.
